On September 9th, 2024, it finally happens – we take over the beautiful Hotel Edelweiss in the heart of Tyrol.
For more than two decades, Hotel Edelweiss has been home to the British couple Peter and Alison who moved to Itter some 20 years ago with their two boys to pursue their long-held dream of running a family hotel in the Austrian Alps.
When we started to circulating flyers last year, saying that we were looking for a hotel in the area, Peter and Alison invited us over. They had been considering moving on, and for us it was love at first sight. We immediately fell for the charm of the hotel, and we fell in love with the idea of being able to continue the hotel’s story as a family-run business.
Since then, we’ve been in for quite a ride. We’ve battled through mountains of paperwork, navigated detours, and handled ups and downs. But we’ve also met amazing people who have helped us in so many ways to make our oldest dream come true. And here we are – finally! On September 9, 2024, we are the proud – and quite excited – new owners of Hotel Edelweiss.
Come September, we’ll pack up our lives in Denmark and move to Austria, where we’ll begin a gentle renovation of the hotel. Peter and Alison have taken great care of the place, inside as well as outside, so our focus will mainly be on adding a good dose of Danish hygge and personality, without changing the beautiful Austrian charm of the hotel.
We’ll be living in a small private part of the hotel, and our boys will attend the local school and ski instructor school. When you visit, you’ll be stepping into our home – and we can’t wait to share it with you.
We want to be completely honest: We’re still in the startup phase, and the first guests who book with us will need a little patience as we’re still learning. But we promise to do everything we can to create wonderful memories for all our guests.
Hotel Edelweiss is located in the charming village of Itter, perched on a sunny plateau with a stunning view of the mountains, and just three minutes from the ski lifts. The village of Itter is part of SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser Brixental which is a fantastic place to spend a relaxing and reinvigorating holiday all year round.
We take reservations from December 14, 2024, and we look forward to welcoming you with lots of warmth, personal service, and plenty of laughs.
